TWENTY TWENTY ONE

Jan 2, 2022

This is the post where I’m supposed to write something witty about the past year and all the wedding goodness held within it. A round up of the years best, or favourite, or stand out images. It’s been a hell of a ride; 32 weddings (20 of them in the space of just over 3 months), who-knows how many miles driven, ceremonies with just a handful of people fully masked up, and dancefloors packed with mask less faces.

Like most year’s it has included Ed Sheeran on a continual loop, and countless Nakd bars consumed whilst in a car or in the corridor of a hotel. Unlike most year’s, it has also involved enough hand sanitiser to fill a bathtub, and more lateral flow tests than you can shake a stick at.

Whilst it has been stressful not shooting from January to April, then cramming a year’s worth of work into a few short months, it has been pretty extraordinary. Playing Tetris with postponements, cancellations and date changes, it’s felt at times like I’m spinning more plates than a Greek restaurant. But there has been an unbelievable amount of joy too. Buckets of the stuff.

All for one, one for all

The photography community has become even more supportive; friends and colleagues have stepped up and stepped in, acting as the back up buddy in case of a positive test or having to isolate. Not to mention the privilege of working alongside some awesome second shooters too.

A massive thank you to all the couples who put their faith, hard earned cash, and trust in me to photograph their wedding day. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it many times again, but my clients are the absolute best. From the tiny elopements to the massive parties, each one has been wonderful. Without you, I’m nothing.

When I’m not shooting people in love you can find me at home, probably drinking too much coffee, eating cake and watching a film. My husband and I hold a lot of our conversations in film quotes. We’re kind of film geeks. After ten years of photographing almost 200 couples who love the bones of each other, I’m still in love with weddings and I would love to hear more about yours.
