If you listen really closely you can actually hear it; the sound of hundreds of wedding photographers emerging from winter, all bright eyed, inspired, energised. Cleaning their lenses, formatting memory cards, stocking up on another external hard drive, maybe even making a few purchases for the new season ahead.
Each year, during Spring, as the daffodils burst through the soil, the days become a tiny bit brighter for a tiny bit longer and it always holds such hope, excitement and energy for the mammoth season that lies ahead.
For me it begins this weekend and I’m chomping at the bit to get started.
I can’t wait to see what the dresses will look like, what colour the suits will be, what music they’ll choose, what significance the table names will have (if any), who will cry, will they fist pump the air as they dance down the aisle, what embarrassing anecdotes will be included in the speeches, what surprises will be in store, will they have a first dance and if so what will be the song.
I love everything about it.
Whilst wedding season means I spend a lot of time away from my husband and daughter which is never easy, my already meagre social life disappears completely and most weekends are spent immortalising other people’s lives, I would not change this.
The bags are packed. The cards are cleared. The batteries are charged.
Bring. It. On.
