Tanya & Alex are hands down ace. Simple as that. They’re funny, they’re cool, they’re laid back, they referenced ‘League of Gentlemen’ during their portrait session and made me laugh. They chose the stunning Soulton Hall in Wem for their wedding venue – it is a wonderful manor house and farm rooted firmly in history (the site actually dates back some 5500 years!) This August wedding was supposed to feature an outdoor ceremony in the Elizabethan walled garden but thanks to the Great British weather, the ceremony was quickly moved inside to Moot Hall, once a manorial court room, it is now a beautiful ceremony space with exposed beams and round windows.
Tanya along with her maids and mother took over one of the manor house beautiful bedrooms to get ready whilst Alex and his groomsmen took care of last minute details for the ceremony. One of my favourite moments of any wedding day is seeing parents and families come together and interact. I think Tanya’s dad seeing her as a bride for the first time is up there as one of my favourite wedding moments. Add to this, Tanya’s brother reading a moving and emotional speech during this ceremony only made me love this family more.
Despite having to dodge the rain for much of the day, this wedding was pretty awesome. We could still head outside to enjoy the grounds and even Hamish the dog came along for a few pictures too.
After the speeches and wedding breakfast, the brilliantly quirky Aubrey Ochre provided the music for the evening – anyone who can blend ‘Kiss’ by Prince into ‘Toxic’ by Britney Spears into ‘Psycho Killer’ by Talking Heads is ok in my book.
So much love for this pair and this wedding, here’s just a selection of my favourites…
