Somerford Hall Wedding – Sarah & Chris

Jun 26, 2019

This is the stunning wedding of Sarah and Chris, and it’s one of my favourites from last Summer. I first met this couple at a wedding fayre when they were in the planning stages and I liked them right away.

They were planning a traditional yet relaxed day with a ceremony at the local church followed by a reception at the gorgeous Somerford Hall in the Staffordshire countryside.

My day began with Sarah at home along with her daughter, bridesmaids and family for some very chilled out bridal prep, and, seeing as Chris was getting ready at the best man’s house just next door, I could pop round to capture him too.

Sarah’s look was elegant and refined in a beautiful gown from Adele Louise in Wolverhampton accessorised with Freya Rose shoes and minimal jewellery; her earrings were a birthday present from Chris.

Following the beautiful ceremony, the couple had arranged for an ice cream bike to be waiting outside the church as a surprise – the perfect treat on a warm summer’s day. Then everyone headed over to Somerford Hall where the celebrations could continue; they had a bouncy castle and giant balloons for the little ones (and not so little ones!) whilst a classical trio played for the guests and as the weather was so lovely, everyone made the most of being outside.

Somerford Hall is a listed Palladian mansion set within 200 acres of parkland that provides an exclusive use only wedding venue in Staffordshire. The team at Somerford go above and beyond for their couples and strive to provide the very best service to each of them.

Speeches at this wedding were very funny and very emotional; Sarah’s best friends were in tears for pretty much the duration! Especially when Sarah herself got up to say a few words. As the early evening sun turned into golden hour, we headed for a short stroll around the grounds of the venue for some relaxed portraits of the couple.

I had the best time with this pair, here’s just a few of my favourites from the day, hope you like them…

When I’m not shooting people in love you can find me at home, probably drinking too much coffee, eating cake and watching a film. My husband and I hold a lot of our conversations in film quotes. We’re kind of film geeks. After ten years of photographing almost 200 couples who love the bones of each other, I’m still in love with weddings and I would love to hear more about yours.
