Epic. That’s the only way to describe Ashley and Alan’s wedding at Pimhill Barn at Lea Hall. It is one of those wedding venues that I love to shoot at because each wedding is totally different each and every time. You’re given the keys to the 16th Century barn the day before, you get married and you hand the keys back the day after. In between you can do what you like, decorate it how you like, have a completely unique wedding and Ashley & Alan embraced this entirely.

Ashley, her mom and her five bridesmaids got ready in the courthouse just around the corner to the barn and in between the hair styling, make up and gorgeous accessories, Ashley had taken the time to create personalised gifts for everybody including champagne flutes, jewellery and wine. Alan and his gents got ready at his house in Shrewsbury before arriving at Pimhill to greet guests and take care of some last minute furniture arranging. 

As Ashley got into her dress, emotions reached fever pitch as the knowledge of being just moments from walking down the aisle became overwhelming. Nearly as overwhelmed as Ashley’s dad when he saw her as a bride for the first time. I was nearly a wreck behind my camera as I saw a proud father embrace his daughter.

The ceremony was performed by one of my favourite registrars in the county and the nerves that were present before the ceremony had disappeared completely once Ashley saw Alan awaiting her arrival. A contender for cutest ring bearer ever presented the couple with their rings wearing the ring cushion as a back pack.

A drinks reception of signature cocktails and Pimms and plenty of time for photos in the grounds of the stunning property, Lea Hall, followed including a surprise from the brides parents in the form of an aeroplane flying a banner especially for the new Mr & Mrs. The grounds of Lea Hall are beyond beautiful and the owner, Ginny, kindly allows the bridal party have use of them for photographs.

Speeches by father of the bride, the groom, best man, maid of honour, plus two close friends brought much laugher and tears to all their family and friends. Bets were taken on how long the speeches would be and any money raised would be donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

It is worth knowing how competitive this pair are and when the games came out, the gloves were off. The bucking sheep (a bronco wouldn’t be fitting for this Welsh bride!) and archery by the lake were hugely popular. Seeing as the July weather was on top form, we had plenty of time for more portraits of the newlyweds too.

The evening festivities were accompanied by stone baked pizza, a photo booth and the awesome live band Brother From Another.
