Palms Hill Wedding – Jayde & Shaun

Mar 29, 2017

Jayde was a bridesmaid way back at the first wedding I ever got paid to shoot and our paths crossed a little here and there over the years so when she and Shaun got engaged, they booked me for a portrait session and then later, the big day itself.

Whilst the boys got ready at home, Jayde and her bridal party got ready at the Albrighton Hall Hotel on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. Jayde herself is a hairdresser and was happy to oblige styling the hair of her bridal party too, saying it helped to keep her calm.

The couple had chosen to hold their ceremony and reception at Palms Hill, a marquee wedding venue near Wem in rural Shropshire, with views of the tranquil Welsh hills and a beautiful Victorian walled garden. Now, this was the weekend of the V festival in August so naturally it rained, a lot. An outdoor ceremony still went ahead despite a smattering of rain and we spent the rest of the day dodging the summer showers.

Weather aside, this was a beautiful wedding with details straight out of Pinterest, a naked cake created by Jayde’s cousin, flowers by the fabulous Di Shackson and stunning gowns for Jayde and her bridesmaids. Throw into the mix the hilarious speeches, a surprise pre honeymoon mini break to Venice, a first dance to Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls followed up by the Mr & Mrs game and two people totally crazy in love with each other and you have a pretty perfect wedding day.

Here’s just a selection from the big day…

Huge thank you to Bethany Stanley for second shooting with me and to Ollie at Floodgate films.

When I’m not shooting people in love you can find me at home, probably drinking too much coffee, eating cake and watching a film. My husband and I hold a lot of our conversations in film quotes. We’re kind of film geeks. After ten years of photographing almost 200 couples who love the bones of each other, I’m still in love with weddings and I would love to hear more about yours.
