Last September I had the privilege of photographing a very special event for the very first time; a graduation!

Paige has been a wedding coordinator at one of my local wedding venues for quite some time and it’s been a pleasure getting to know each other over the years. I was thrilled to be asked to go along to her University to take some relaxed portraits of her and her very proud family before the official ceremony got underway.

It was so wonderful to wander around the campus, take some relaxed portraits and chat about her university experience as well as hear her family’s pride.

As somebody who quit university part of the way through the course, I’ve always felt somewhat envious of anyone who stuck at it and achieved their degree, so I found myself beaming at how proud Paige’s family were of her and how hard she has worked over the last few years.

I was blown away by what Paige had this to say about the session:

I’ve worked with Nicola on weddings for years, she’s professional and genuinely the loveliest lady to put you at ease for your big day so I had no hesitation in asking her to take some graduation photos for me on my big day. She genuinely felt like one of the family, even my nervous grandparents felt at ease. The result, beautiful memories to cherish forever! The photos captured the genuine and true essence of the day, the trepidation, elation, overwhelming joy, relief and most of all the pride of my loved ones. I know so many people who have wished they’d done what I had and hired someone to take the photos for them but I was genuinely privileged to have a friend and colleague share my experience which made it so much more special! From one very particular and perfectionist individual to anyone reading this thinking ‘is she the one…?’ my answer is BOOK NICOLA you won’t regret it. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this wonderful celebration and I hope I get to photograph more graduations in the future.
