So in this crazy business, at this crazy busy time of year, discovering the down time sometimes takes night vision goggles to find. Every wedding professional is swamped right now so getting a day off with my husband (who works shifts) and my daughter is rare. Today is Father’s Day and right now my husband is sleeping off a night shift, my daughter is reluctantly having a nap and I’m grinning like a baffoon because I have this amazing little family with me, under one roof and we’ll have this afternoon together. I don’t take enough family photos, and I want that to change.
My own dad died nearly 8 years ago now and I have a few 6×4 prints of us together, to me, they are priceless. I have my memories of course. Spending Sunday’s driving around the Midlands listening to Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and The Clash. Going to the cinema to watch countless bad films (ice skating classic The Cutting Edge, anyone?) His favourite song was ‘California Sun’ by The Ramones, his favourite film was ‘Blazing Saddles’. Looking back at photographs of us together, I feel nothing but joy. I hope I brought as much joy to his life as Avalon brings to mine and Jamie’s.
Happy Father’s Day x
