I first met up with Kelly & Jonathan to discuss their wedding in a pub on the outskirts of Wolverhampton on Mothers Day. After playing a few rounds of the Kevin Bacon game, talking about music, our favourite Arnie quotes and would a conga line be an appropriate first dance we realised we hadn’t really spoken about the wedding at all. I liked them right away.
They had chosen the amazing Walcot Hall in Lybury North for their venue, a beautiful rambling home set within the most stunning scenery that takes quirky to new levels. Imagine quirky amplified. The wedding day itself felt more like a great big party and there just so happened to be some people getting married in the middle of it. The celebrations started with a tweet from Hulk Hogan. Yep you read that right, the actual Hulk Hogan tweeted the groom to wish him well. As you do.
Kelly is the bassist with awesome indie rock band Johnny Foreigner (you can check them out here: http://johnnyforeignertheband.com) so naturally rock n roll was a big thing for them. Whilst getting ready with her bridesmaids and the most rocknroll hairdresser ever, Kelly was presented with her wedding day gift; Jonathan had arranged for her favourite band Deerhoof, to sign their album ‘Deerhoof vs Evil’ for her. It beats a griddle pan any day!
Kelly made her ceremony entrance to Super Furry Animals ‘Fire in my heart’ and Jonathan’s brothers provided one of the funniest readings I’ve heard which ended with the congregation serenading them with ‘It must be love’. Once the formality of the civil ceremony was over, Jonathan’s father closed the service with a moving religious blessing.
In and around the champagne, the food, the Monster Munch entrees, the cakes (yes, plural), the marginally embarrassing speeches, an epic brass band, giant jenga and table tennis, dancing both indoors and out, two wonderful people said I do and made my job so very easy.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, Kelly bought along Mexican wrestling masks for her formal wedding pictures…
More like this please my dearest lovely clients. Pretty please…
