Hattie & Jamie’s July wedding totally knocked me for six. A combination of them being amazing people, wonderful families, a great venue plus fabulous weather and probably the most I have ever cried behind my camera during a wedding. See, when Jamie was 17 years old he was badly injured in a car accident that broke his back and he would not walk again. 2016 would be the ten year anniversary of this crash. I think Jamie’s dad summed it up during his speech: “ten years ago there was no light at the end of the tunnel and it was the darkest time for our family. Then Jamie met Hattie. She was the light at the end of the tunnel.”
The marriage vows I hear week in week out had never resonated more than on that day.
I cried again later on during the dancing, not just when Hattie and Jamie twirled to Ed Sheeran, but when Hattie’s divorced parents danced together. As a child of divorce I can only look on and applaud their grace with each other. It is a wonderful thing this job of mine and I am unbelievably humbled by the stories I hear, the people I meet and the lives I get to be a part of for just a fleeting few hours.
I adored shooting this wedding and cannot thank Hattie, Jamie and their families enough for welcoming me into their lives for this one amazing day.
