I first met Georgie & Ali at her mom’s beautiful house in the gorgeous tucked away village of Lower Hayton, Ludlow along with mom herself, Tottie, brother Tom plus two very friendly, rambunctious labradors Bella & Barney. As I sat in their living room listening to their wedding plans I knew I wanted to shoot this wedding. This family had charisma and I wanted in! A church service followed by an at home reception under a tent in a field – sign me up!
The wedding day began with Georgie and her four bridesmaids getting ready in a riot of colour by each wearing one of Georgie’s late father’s shirts. Croissants, scrambled eggs and salmon were served to fuel the girls for the day ahead whilst the amazing Wild Bunch Flowers made the tent in the field look straight out of Pinterst fabulous.
Georgie made her entrance into church on the arm of her brother Tom and while emotions ran high, humour was never far away especially during a reading of Winnie the Pooh. Immediately after the ceremony, the bridal party took a brief time out to visit the grave of Georgie’s father, Peter, who had sadly passed in November 2013. Before setting off for their reception, their friends and family assembled to shower them with kind words and confetti.
For the speeches, Tottie spoke where Peter should have and let us in on how Ali had asked Peter for permission to have his daughters hand in marriage, how he saw Georgie’s wedding dress and as a tribute, Tom wore his father’s wedding coat and signet ring. Ali’s speech let us in on how he proposed to Georgie – he simply asked “little one, will you marry me?” And her reply? “You better not be f***ing with me?!”
We headed out for portraits of Ali & Georgie alone late on as the sun began to lower in the sky and their guests enjoyed the cosy atmosphere around the campfires and lanterns dotted around the field. So lovely to see such an awesome couple so completely in love with one another.
