This shoot was the stuff of dreams! From a dream team of suppliers to the most wonderful couple at one of my most favourite Shropshire wedding venues, this was the best day!

The idea of creating a real wedding vibe within a styled shoot with a small group of Shropshire based wedding suppliers came about when weddings weren’t quite as free flowing thanks to lockdowns and postponements. As creatives, we had so many ideas and an overwhelming desire to just create for the sake of creating.

With an Autumnal colour palette in mind, we also wanted to show just how beautiful and sensational small weddings and elopements can look whilst still paying attention to the details. Small weddings just mean fewer people, not fewer nice touches.

We chose the Hundred House just outside Telford for our venue; it’s a quirky country pub with delightful gardens, great food, and an intimate barn setting. The wonderful Ali & Dionne were our couple for the day; warm, affectionate and tactile they were the perfect models for this shoot. For flowers, Big Little Things based at the Apley Estate created the most beautiful, rustic and wild pedestal displays, bouquet and button hole. They loved working with the Autumnal colours, from the rich tones to the sculptural textures and they wanted to embrace these elements with the floral design throughout the shoot. They used the opportunity to juxtapose floral shapes and varieties of flowers; mixing British, autumnal fresh flowers such as Dahlia and Sedum alongside exotic dried flowers like Palm Spears and Pampas Grasses.

Dionne’s dress is a bespoke gown made by Jenny at My Little Wedding Shop in Bridgnorth. This dress is in fact two dresses in one; designed as a soft crepe, strappy dress, the bride’s look can be worn two ways or transformed from day to night.  The dress transforms very simply, with a sleeved lace layer dropping away to reveal the simple, backless crepe dress with delicate strap detail. To add some drama to this simpler dress, Jenny had designed a lace edged tulle cape with a dramatic lace collar and matching lace edge, which showed off the shape of the cape. This cape is finished with beautiful silk covered buttons and loops along the shoulder. The suit very kindly loaned by Moss Bros at Telford. The makeup used on Dionne was very minimal to enhance her natural beauty, opting for a classic vintage look; Soft eyes, sharp black eyeliner to bring out the eyes and a bold lipstick to make the whole look stand out even more. A style of makeup to accentuate Dionne’s natural beauty as well as enhance the dress, and the hairstyle. Tisch the hairdresser was instantly excited about the shoot and knew exactly what to do and create with Dionne’s hair. Dionne has gorgeous textured hair which is so versatile and adaptable when styling. Tisch wanted to accentuate her natural curls and showcase Afro textured hair in all its beauty. 

The bespoke stationery was printed on to beautiful handmade cotton rag paper. Burnt oranges and tones of red within the floral wreath design really make a statement with the flashes of teal. The texture of the paper, the twine used to tie the separate cards together and the brown envelopes all add a rustic feel that reflects the autumn theme perfectly. Favour and place name tags in contrast colour were tied to gorgeous clear boxes filled with orange macarons made by Caroline Hunkington house kitchen.
