When I first met Sam and Tom at a wedding fayre, Sam confessed to following me on social media and already knew my work :) and then proceeded to reassure me by saying she wasn’t a stalker! I also got introduced to several members of the family including their children and Sam’s parents; it was clear from the off that this wedding was going to be very much a family event.
The wedding day began at Sam’s childhood home, just a stones throw from the church, in the beautiful village of Rodington, Shropshire. The weather had threatened to pour down all day but we got lucky, despite the awful forecast. The house was buzzing with lots of people coming and going for much of the morning, whilst the girls got ready upstairs and before long it was time for Sam to make her way to church. Their vicar, Suzanne, is one of my favourites from the local churches as she makes each ceremony so personal and spends lots of time getting to know the couple.
Following the ceremony,it was on to their reception venue, The Mytton & Mermaid in Atcham. It’s no secret that it’s one of my favourite Shropshire venues and Sam & Tom wanted to use it to it’s fullest by making the covered courtyard the perfect place for a drinks reception and the mermaid suite the ideal room for the wedding breakfast. Decorated in rose gold, sequins and pink it looked amazing! Their cake was a bit of a showstopper too!
We dodged the rain and managed to get some portraits outdoors around the grounds and Atcham footbridge. The couple were soon back with their guests for more drinks and dancing – including a surprise confetti canon! Oh and this wedding is the first and so far only place I’ve ever heard “The Stick Song” from children’s TV show ‘Hey Duggee’!
Here’s a few of my faves from the day…
