Highbury Hall – Marianne & Mark

Sep 13, 2018

Marianne and Mark chose historic Grade II listed Highbury Hall in Birmingham for their Spring wedding. Move over Harry and Meghan, the 19th May 2018 will always be, in my mind, all about Marianne and Mark.

I’ll make no bones about it, I bloody love this venue. The high ceilings, the tiled walls, the books in the library, the beautiful exterior and there’s something wonderfully nostalgic and old fashioned-in-a-good-way about the getting ready rooms.

My day started out with Marianne and her two bridesmaids getting dressed and drinking bubbly before her dad saw her as a bride for the first time. The ceremony took place downstairs in one of the stunning rooms just off from the main hall and featured a moving reading from Marianne’s dad about her grandparents and music wise they chose Otis Reading instead of any kind of wedding march.

The sun shone all day, so everyone could enjoy the outdoor space Highbury Hall offers with drinks on the terraces and the couple set up a games room for their more competitive guests. They shunned the traditional first dance and instead drank cocktails and sang along to their friend’s awesome 3 piece band.

This wedding was so much fun; with touches of Roald Dahl, the most gorgeous bright flowers, bridesmaids in polka dots and a slight vintage twist to Marianne’s bridal look. I can’t wait to be back at Highbury for more wedding gorgeousness so if you’re planning your big day there, get in touch. For now, here’s just a few of my faves from this big day…

When I’m not shooting people in love you can find me at home, probably drinking too much coffee, eating cake and watching a film. My husband and I hold a lot of our conversations in film quotes. We’re kind of film geeks. After ten years of photographing almost 200 couples who love the bones of each other, I’m still in love with weddings and I would love to hear more about yours.
